Twenty-four year old Leon Blease a fisherman of Rivero Streetwas today charged with the attempted murder of thirty-four year old Freddy Grant when he appeared in Magistrate’s Court. Blease was also charged with dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm. Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail because of the nature of the offences and remanded him into custody until October 23rd. Grant was reportedly standing at the Corner of Conch Shell Bay and Vernon Street when a man rode by on bicycle and fired six shots in his direction. Grant was hit once in the cheek and once in the back. He was taken to the KHMH where he was treated for his injuries.

21 year old Edward King was charged with 3 counts of Aggravated Assault when he appeared in Magistrate’s Court today. King, a resident of Mahogany Street Extension allegedly fired a shot at Marlon Vernon, Jewel Pou and Robert Singh but missed. The three men were walking on McKay Boulevard last Tuesday when a man on a bicycle approached them and fired a single shot at them. King pleaded not guilty to the charges but because of the nature of the offence was remanded into custody until October 23rd.

Forty year old Victor Caballero, a boat captain of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, who allegedly committed aggravated burglary at the house of police constable Mervin Locke, was charged with the offense when he appeared today in Magistrate’s Court. Caballero pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was offered bail in the amount of 3 thousand dollars and his case was adjourned until October 23rd.The incident occurred around 2:30am on Sunday, September 21st. Locke, a resident of Jane Usher Boulevard, reported to the police that he was at home with his common-law wife, when his brother-in-law stomped open the front door and entered, armed with a knife. Locke said Caballero attacked him and when his common law wife intervened, Caballero hit her on her head with the knife.
